Volunteering: For volunteers, since we are operating with a skeleton crew we are asking all people that would normally volunteer with us to volunteer to help our wonderful partners; Long Island Cares and Island Harvest. They always can find something for people to do to assist. Please go to their websites and look up how to help.

OUR STORY

The peanut butter gang was founded when seven people gathered in 1990 to make sandwiches to assist Pentecostal Minister Sister Celeste feed 600 homeless people on the street outside the NY Port Authority Building. Other people discovered what we were doing and established groups and joined in to help by making sandwiches and wash up kits. Today there are over 20 peanut butter gangs of making an average of 15,000 sandwiches and 2,300 wash up kits every month. Volunteer drivers deliver these items weekly to twenty outreach centers on Long Island and New York City.

TESTIMONIALS

Our volunteers give their free time to help people who are less fortunate. Every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM we serve and help patrons in need. We offer a clothing pantry, food pantry, and a hot meal every Saturday. Patrons come and feel safe and leave with a full belly and food to take home.
